THE GOODFINDS TOP 5

5 electric burr coffee grinders: our picks for everyday coffee and small stations

Choose the grinder for the coffee you actually make: a breakfast pot, a small pour-over or a station that changes methods.

OXO Brew Conical Burr Grinder — SilverBaratza Encore Coffee Grinder — BlackFellow Opus 2 Burr Grinder — Black
HOW WE ORDERED THIS SHORTLIST

The reason behind the ranking.

The full-size OXO leads for a balanced everyday filter-coffee setup. The original Encore follows for direct controls and service orientation. Opus 2 is our more expensive multi-method adjustment choice, while Cuisinart serves lower-cost batch brewing and the OXO Compact serves narrow stations. This order reflects those practical buying priorities among these five models. A small kitchen or an espresso-centered routine can change which one is the best fit; it is not a shared laboratory grind-quality score.

  • Dose workflow and controls for everyday brewing
  • Adjustment type and exact model generation
  • Hopper capacity, counter access and cleaning
  • Selection price and useful features for the intended routine

Our editorial order compares these five selected models using the documented features and buying considerations below. It is a preference-based shortlist, not a ranking of every product on the market. Product facts and offers were checked on October 22, 2026; follow each product page to its current listing.

OXO Brew Conical Burr Grinder — Silver1OUR PICK
Best everyday filter-coffee starting point

1. OXO Brew Conical Burr Grinder — Silver

First for its balance of a moderate selection price, simple repeatable controls and a generous hopper. It makes a clear starting point for everyday filter coffee without asking every buyer to pay for espresso-focused adjustment.

What we like

  • 40 mm conical burrs
  • Simple one-touch routine
  • 12-ounce removable hopper

What to weigh up

  • Full-size counter footprint
  • No built-in dose scale

Baratza Encore Coffee Grinder — Black2OUR PICK
Best for a service-minded filter setup

2. Baratza Encore Coffee Grinder — Black

Second for its 40-position adjustment, direct controls and documented service orientation. The higher selection price and manual dose workflow make it less universal than the first pick.

What we like

  • 40 stepped grind positions
  • Front pulse and side switch
  • Serviceability emphasized by the maker

What to weigh up

  • Original Encore, not espresso-focused ESP
  • Manual dose workflow

Fellow Opus 2 Burr Grinder — Black3OUR PICK
Best for multi-method adjustment

3. Fellow Opus 2 Burr Grinder — Black

Third overall and our flexible-adjustment pick. The newer 48 mm, stepless design gives a specific buying reason for multi-method users, balanced against the highest price here and a much smaller review sample.

What we like

  • Stepless adjustment
  • 48 mm conical burrs
  • Two magnetic catch cups

What to weigh up

  • Higher purchase price
  • Small 65-rating snapshot on selection date

Cuisinart Supreme Grind DBM-8P14OUR PICK
Best lower-cost batch-coffee option

4. Cuisinart Supreme Grind DBM-8P1

Fourth for a clear price-and-batch-use role. The 18-position adjustment and cup selector suit an ordinary coffee pot, while its minimum quantity selector is less convenient for very small doses.

What we like

  • Lowest observed selection price here
  • Eight-ounce hopper
  • Automatic end-of-cycle shutoff

What to weigh up

  • Four-cup minimum selector
  • Fewer fixed grind positions

OXO Brew Compact Burr Grinder — 50 g5OUR PICK
Best for a narrow coffee station

5. OXO Brew Compact Burr Grinder — 50 g

Fifth overall with a strong small-space purpose. The narrow body and smaller price are appealing, but the 50 g hopper is a deliberate capacity compromise for larger households.

What we like

  • Narrow 3.75-inch body
  • 50 g capacity for smaller sessions
  • Accessible removable burr components

What to weigh up

  • Limited hopper capacity
  • Clearance still needed above the body

MAKE THE COMPARISON YOURS

How to choose your fit.

Compare the brew routine before the dial count

A household coffee pot, a single pour-over and an espresso machine do not create the same grinding job. Start with the brewer, the amount of coffee and how often you change methods. The full-size OXO gives a straightforward repeated routine; the original Encore adds a clear 40-position reference with direct manual controls. Neither should be confused with a built-in weighing system.

The newer Fellow Opus 2 has stepless adjustment and 48 mm burrs. That is a specific distinction from the original Opus, not a reason to copy older setting charts. Continuous adjustment can be valuable when small changes matter, but it rewards a clear reference note. Choose adjustment freedom because it serves your recipe rather than sorting grinders by the largest number alone.

Match hopper capacity to the busiest normal morning

Twelve ounces, eight ounces and 50 grams describe substantially different loading arrangements. A larger hopper can reduce refilling; a small one can suit measured-bean sessions and a narrow station. Neither capacity by itself proves a better cup. Write down the amount of beans you use and how many sessions you run in succession, then compare that with the actual model.

Cuisinart’s four-to-18-cup selector is a batch reference, not a universal mug count. Weigh an actual recipe when setting up the routine. The Compact OXO’s 50 g hopper is a deliberate smaller-capacity choice. Measure filling access, grounds-container removal and space for a scale as well as the bare appliance footprint. A grinder that fits physically should also be convenient to operate there.

Keep model and feedback context attached

Original Encore and Encore ESP are different versions. Full-size OXO and OXO Compact are different models. Opus 2 is the newer stepless model, and its selection-day snapshot of 65 ratings is a smaller feedback sample than the long-established alternatives. Read current feedback for the exact version and the brewing job you intend to do. The dated listing snapshots are context, not GOODFINDS performance measurements.

Compare the current offer and the practical care route before ordering. Check which parts can be removed, how they are cleaned and whether compatible service parts are accessible where that matters to you. Our individual guides turn these model differences into setup questions, dose planning and useful buying checklists. Choose the simplest complete workflow that suits your own coffee.
